We presently operate under the umbrella of The Performing Arts Institute, a twelve-year old not-for-profit organization co-founded by Kimberly Daniel de Acha and David Alt. We have begun the process of applying for our own 501c3 not-for-profit certification - a process that can drag on for months. Meanwhile, we need financial assistance to operate and we are openly soliciting contributions. All contributions made to Theater by the Book should be in the form of checks payable to The Performing Arts Institute. Our address is Theater by the Book Our MissionTheater by the Book has as its mission to preserve the great literary legacy of classic theater by presenting staged readings of the great works of the European and American stages, at minimal or free admission, with professional actors, primarily for the community of Miami-Dade County, at multiple locations throughout South Florida. About Our Artistic DirectorArtistic Director Rafael de Acha has staged over two hundred productions in a forty-year long career, founded and managed several arts organizations, traveled to over one hundred and thirty countries, learned half a dozen languages, taught Voice and Music, and been married to singer-actress-professor Kimberly Daniel for almost forty years. Winner of many awards and honors, he has served as a theater panelist for the National Endowment for the Arts and for Theatre Communications Group. He is an Adjunct Lecturer for the Frost School of Music of the University of Miami and is currently working on a book on Shakespeare in Opera and another on The History of Song.
